What does the ticket include?

The ticket includes your stay (tent/cottage), food for the duration of the festival & access to all the workshops/performances. 

If you are camping, we will provide you with a tent, sleeping bag and a mattress.

 

What is the best way to reach the festival?

You have two convenient options from Kodaikanal town: take a cab (approximately ₹400 one way, as of Dec 2024) or hop on a bus from the Kodaikanal bus stand, which departs every hour for Vilpatti village. Once you arrive at the Vilpatti bus stop, refer to our map (check out 'location details' tab) for easy walking directions to the venue.

 

If you plan to drive to the venue, please follow the map for driving directions from Kodaikanal. To ensure a smooth arrival, kindly notify us in advance, as car park spots are limited, and reservations are required. We'll be happy to reserve a spot for you.

 

Transportation Arrangements

If you selected our transportation assistance option when booking your festival pass, we'll be in touch soon to finalize the details. Please note that the cost of transportation will be billed separately, in addition to your festival pass fee. We'll provide you with more information on the transportation costs and arrangements shortly.

Can you organise transportation from a city outside of Bengaluru?

No. Our transportation assistance option is for pick up and drop off at Bengaluru only. If you are coming from another city, we encourage you to travel to Bengaluru first and get on the festival bus with the rest.

 

What are the different accommodation options?

You have a few different options to choose from.

Shared Tents (double sharing) - Sleeps 2 persons Max. 

Individual Tents - Sleeps 1 person Max.

Cottage Stay with ensuite – 3 people per room. 

Cottage Stay without ensuite – 3 people per room. 

 

I am coming by myself. Who will I share the tent/cottage with?

Shared tents & cottages will be randomly allocated based on a system that will correspond with your ticket number. Only way to ensure that you get to share with your friends is if you nominate them while booking the ticket.

 

Will there be toilets and bathrooms? What about hot water?

Yes. If you chose to stay in a cottage, they will have their own toilet/bathrooms with hot water. If you are camping, there will be a total of 8 gender neutral toilets/bathrooms for you to use. Not all common bathrooms have access to hot water.

 

Will there be mobile coverage/Wi-Fi?

- Jio and BSNL networks have decent coverage in the area.

- Vodafone and Airtel networks have intermittent coverage.

- There is no Wi-Fi available at the property.

In case of emergencies, you can use the landline phone at the property. We encourage you to view this weekend as an opportunity to take a digital detox, relax, and rejuvenate in the beautiful surroundings.

Where do I charge my phone?

If you are camping, you will have access to limited charging docks at the reception area. Please bring your own power bank so that you don’t have to rely on these limited charging stations.

 

Can I bring alcohol to ŪRU Festival?

We are not licensed to sell alcohol at the festival. Please bring your own alcohol (& mixers) if you wish to drink. The nearest liquor store to the property is 8kms away. We will not be able to arrange transportation to the liquor store. 

 

We encourage you to drink in moderation. The festival is held in a property that is adjacent to several villages.. Unruly behaviour after intoxication will not be tolerated. We all have to be respectful of the space.

 

Can I bring my own tent to pitch?

No, your ticket price includes a tent. The tents will be pitched prior to your arrival and kept ready.

 

Where can I find set times and the full lineup details?

Lineup information and set times will be available on the website under the 'Schedule' tab.

 

Can I go in and out of the festival site each night?

No. You are free to explore the surroundings during the day time. But the festival gates will be locked in the night as we have to be mindful of the neighbours.

 

Will there be locker facilities?

No, there are no lockers available. Please do not bring any valuables. ŪRU Festival or the venue will not take any responsibility of lost items.

 

Are debit/credit cards /Gpay accepted on site?

No. This is a strictly cash only festival. Please bring sufficient cash with you. Your debit cards or phone banking will not work at the property. 

 

Are food and beverages included with the pass?

Yes. Your ticket includes food and refreshments. Outside of the meals that your ticket includes, you have the option to buy food (limited menu) from the Chai Hut. 

Please bring cash as debit cards/ Gpay/internet banking does not work at the property.

 

Can I pay for the ticket in instalments?

We depend on your tickets to cover our upfront costs. So, paying in instalments is not available as an option. However, if you are facing financial difficulties, please reach out to our team and we will work with you to help you be a part of the festival.

 

Can I sell my ticket? 

Yes. If you're unable to attend the festival, you can transfer your ticket to someone else. To do so, please email us at urufestival@gmail.com with the following information:

 

- A copy of your ticket

- The name of the person you're transferring the ticket to

 

Please note that ŪRU Festival will not be responsible for any financial obligations or arrangements between you and the ticket transferee. The transfer is solely between you and the new ticket holder.

 

Can I get a refund for the ticket?

No. Tickets are non-refundable. 

 

This Festival is a labour of love, which love has also translated to financial investment from all our visitors through purchase of tickets. It is made possible only through immutable planning and arrangements made months in advance. Thus, no refund upon cancellation of tickets or failure to attend, regardless of the underlying reason, can be provided.

 

However, the Festival Organiser reserves the final right to grant leniency based on extraordinary situations, and leniency in favour of any one visitor does not accrue a right or parity in favour of others.

 

I have bought a festival pass online; do I need a physical pass or a printed copy?

Please have the ticket ready on your phone to be displayed and bring this with you to the venue..

 

Are day passes available?

No.

 

Is it a safe space for me?

ŪRU Festival is a celebration of diversity, inclusivity, and self-expression. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where the queer community and allies can come together, free from fear of judgment or persecution.

 

Our festival is built on the principles of respect, empathy, and understanding. We recognize that everyone has a unique identity, experience, and background. We expect all attendees to respect each other's:

 

- Gender identity and expression

- Sexual orientation

- Ethnicity and cultural heritage

- Religious beliefs

- Socio-economic background

 

We take consent and boundaries seriously. Any form of harassment, discrimination, or consent breach will not be tolerated. If you experience or witness anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please notify the ŪRU team immediately.
