
Terms and Conditions, and Code of Conduct
1. These conditions apply to the purchase of Festival products and/ or services through this website and the use of any Festival products and/ or services by the visitor. These rules are not meant to infringe upon any individual’s feelings, or enjoyment or exercise of liberty, but to uphold a certain standard of conduct within the festival and to facilitate an atmosphere of safety for all.
2. You are requested to read the terms carefully, and specifically accept the terms provided below prior to purchase of tickets. These terms will be the guiding code of conduct for ensuring the safety of all persons in the Festival, and their violation may result in your removal from the Festival premises, apart from legal steps as may be required:
a. The Festival premises are not drug friendly (naturally excluding medically prescribed drugs and medications).
b. You will not play any loud music between 09:00 PM and 06:00 AM. (music on a speakerphone using any device).
c. You will abide by the curfew timings of the Festival, i.e. you will not attempt to enter or exit the Festival premises between 09:00 PM and 06:00 AM.
d. No refund of the ticket cost will be issued on account of your failure to attend the Festival (as described in detail in clause 5).
e. You will not engage in any sexual or non-sexual behavior compromising the comfort or privacy of any other person, without their explicit consent.
3. Definitions
a. Festival refers to the 2025 edition of ŪRU festival held at Hillock Holidays, Vilpatti, Kodaikanal between 11th of April 2025 and 13th of April 2025;
b. Festival Organiser refers to the organizing committee of the Festival, and includes any person authorized to represent them for the purposes of the Festival;
c. Festival Premises refer to Hillock Holidays, Vilpatti, Kodaikanal between 11th of April 2025 and 13th of April 2025, where the Festival will be held;
d. Visitor refers to the customers who hold a valid ticket for the Festival;
e. Terms and Conditions refers to the conditions and rules provided in this document.
4. Scope of the present Terms and Conditions:
a. Before you purchase the ticket and/ or participate in the Festival, regardless of whether the ticket is purchased through this official channel or transferred through a third party, you will be required to read, accept and comply with these conditions in full, in the absence of which the Festival Organiser reserves the right to deny your access to the Festival, and no refund shall be accommodated in the event of such denial.
b. The intent of the present festival is to foster and build a community, and to that extent, we understand that one may purchase a ticket on behalf of other persons, or even face contingencies necessitating the transfer of ticket to another if you are unable to attend the festival yourself. However, in the interest and security of such additional persons on whose behalf you may purchase the tickets or to whom you may transfer the tickets, we remind you that it is your sole responsibility to inform those other persons of these conditions and any other terms and conditions that may apply to your purchase, and to obtain their agreement to these Terms and Conditions prior to the purchase or transfer.
c. Similarly, if you have obtained the tickets through purchase from a third-party/ friend/ relative/ acquaintance, and not through the official channel, it will be presumed that you have agreed to the present Terms and Conditions through the act of your purchase and/ or acceptance of transferred tickets. It will be the sole responsibility of the third-party seller / transferor to inform / supply a copy of the present Terms and Conditions to you.
d. Kindly also note that the purchase of invalid, illegal, or fabricated tickets from third party sellers not authorized by the Festival Organiser, does not accrue any liability or responsibility upon the Festival Organiser.
5. No right of refund:
a. This Festival is a labour of love, which love has also translated to financial investment from all our visitors through purchase of tickets. It is made possible only through immutable planning and arrangements made months in advance. Thus, no refund upon cancellation of tickets or failure to attend, regardless of the underlying reason, can be provided.
b. However, the Festival Organiser reserves the final right to grant leniency based on extraordinary situations, and leniency in favour of any one visitor does not accrue a right or parity in favour of others.
c. Naturally, if the event is cancelled or the attendance of a visitor is made impossible due to actions on the part of the Festival Organiser, the ticket cost and no more would be refunded to the visitor. The refunds will be done so for the face value of the Ticket, net of any transaction or booking fees. Any travel arrangements made by the visitor for the purposes of the Festival or otherwise will not be reimbursed by the Festival Organiser in the event of cancellation of the Festival or any change of dates.
d. The cost of the tickets is utilized towards organizing the full and complete festival, and is not parcelled up towards specific events. Our aim is to curate a holistic experience and community, and not to prove any particular service. Thus, the cancellation of any one event and/ or workshop shall not constitute a material change to the Festival or entitle any visitor to a full or partial refund.
6. Conditions of Entry: Deliberate or reckless flouting of the conditions of stay may result in your removal from the premises of the Festival.
a. Entry to the festival premises requires a valid ticket and government-issued photographic identity proof for the visitor. Each ticket is valid for one person’s entry. No entry will be allowed only upon production of the ticket without a government-issued photographic identity proof, or where the identity or photograph does not match with the visitor’s face.
b. Only original identity proof or certified digital copies of original identity will be accepted. Screenshots and photos, which can be manipulated and thus create a sense of insecurity amongst our visitors, will not be accepted.
c. Both the person and belongings of visitors may be searched upon entry into the premises. Though uncomfortable, we request you to cooperate in the process which is crucial to not only ensuring the safety of all visitors but also developing the comfort and confidence in each other essential for the full enjoyment of the Festival.
d. A visitor is neither allowed to bring into the festival premises, or procure through any means while on the festival premises, the following items, also called ‘Prohibited Items’:
i. Glass drinking bottles
ii. Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances
iii. Knives or any other sharp tool deemed unsafe by the festival organisers
iv. Liquid fuels
v. Pyrotechnics or fireworks
vi. Unauthorised promotional material
vii. Compressed gas
viii. Spray paint
ix. Weapons and firearms.
e. The Festival Organiser or any person authorized in this regard reserves the right to confiscate items which may not be described above but pose a potential threat to or compromise the safety of visitors or the property.
7. Conditions of Stay:
a. Physical harm, acts of violence, self-harm, and property damage:
i. The Festival does not condone acts of violence towards others, oneself, or properties of others/ the premises. The Festival is founded on the common denominators of harmonious living and self-regulation. Any violent or dangerous behaviour, which poses a threat to the visitors or the Organisers, may thus result in your removal from the premises, at the discretion of Festival Organisers.
ii. The Festival Organisers do not take on any liability or responsibility in the event that any acts of violence directed towards anyone by the visitors. However, to the best of their ability, the Organisers will assist the victim in seeking legal remedies and care.
iii. We also understand that harmful acts, particularly towards oneself, may not be intentional or deliberate, but may be triggered by discussion of certain topics or remembrances. Thus, for your own safety, we request you to familiarize yourself with the itinerary and topics of workshops, and request you to either sit out the Festival or specific workshops if they are too uncomfortable for you in your current state.
iv. The aforesaid also applies to acts which, though not ostensibly violent, are prejudicial to the safety of yourself or other visitors or the Festival Organisers.
b. Allergies: Food is provided in communal spaces and through a buffet system. In the event that you are allergic to any specific food items, you are requested to inform the Festival Organisers two weeks in advance of your travel or, at minimum, two days in advance. We will attempt our best to accommodate your allergies. However, given the communal preparation and serving of food, we cannot guarantee complete absence of cross-contamination. We therefore request you to prepare for the same, and carry medications as may be needed by you in case of an allergic reaction. The Festival Organisers will not carry any liability for allergic reactions, but as always, attempt to the best of their abilities to assist you in getting the necessary medical care.
c. Sexual harassment:
i. The Festival is intended to be a safe and open-minded space; but the permissiveness and acceptance of dispositions, orientations, and identities does not translate to tolerance of illegal (including non-consensual) behaviours or acts which jeopardise the safety/ comfort of others. Any form of non-consensual sexual behaviour, or verbal or physical act with underlying sexual connotations tending to make others uncomfortable, will not be tolerated, and result in your removal from the premises.
ii. If you are the victim/ on the receiving end of such behaviour, please approach any Festival Organiser, and we will extend our fullest support towards your protection, care, comfort, and access to legal remedies. In doing so, however, we do not take on any vicarious legal liability for the harmful acts of others.
d. Accidents and theft: The concept of this Festival is rooted in finding a space for similar and dissimilar adults, and the Festival Organiser’s endeavor remains largely in facilitating this contact, through inter alia providing a safe space for the same. In the process, we cannot and do not take on any liability for damage, loss or theft of personal property, or any accidental damage caused to one’s person or property.
e. Visitors acknowledge and are aware that there are dangers and risks of physical harm or illness and that, despite the Festival Organiser’s best efforts, not all risks can be fully eliminated. By entering the Festival, you voluntarily agree to assume and to cooperate in minimizing such risks. In furtherance of the same, visitors agree to indemnify the Festival Organiser against any liability for damages caused to, theft of or other accidents involving persons or property on the Festival premises, except where it occurs on account of the negligence of the Festival Organiser.
f. Unauthorised photography, videography or recording of audio is strictly prohibited.
i. Our visitors come to the Festival with a sense of escape from the world and maintaining your confidence is extremely important to us. So, any attempt to take unauthorized professional recordings of others is prohibited.
ii. Further, recordings or photographs of other visitors or Festival Organisers without their consent, regardless of whether they are published or not, breaches the confidence and safety the Festival aims to provide. Engaging in such activities may result in confiscation of your devices, which would be returned only upon deletion of the concerned data, and your removal from the premises for posing a hazard to other visitors’ security.
8. Data Protection: Your personal details may be collected by the Festival Organiser at different junctures, including at the time of registration and entry to the festival. Please note that this data is only held for the purposes of ensuring safety of all visitors. It will not be shared with any third-parties, except under authority of law or for the purposes of compliance with directions of statutory authorities.
9. Photography, videography, and camera surveillance:
a. The Festival Organisers capture atmospheric images that may be used in content such as social media posts. However, photos featuring photos featuring the faces of any visitor will not be published without their prior permission, which shall be sought at the time of your entry to the Festival premises. Visitors who are agreeable to the use of photographs featuring their faces will be given a green-coloured band, and those who are not, shall be given a red-coloured band. By agreeing to wear the green-coloured band, you give a general permission to the Festival organisers to use any and all photographs featuring your face, and individual permission for each photograph shall not be required. Naturally, we shall not use any photographs that compromises a visitor’s safety or privacy, or are obscene.
b. Camera surveillance at the Festival may be carried out in accordance with local legislation. These recordings will only be used for security purposes during the Festival and will not be passed on to third parties, except to the competent authority upon receipt of a formal request.
10. The Festival Organiser may be forced to forego certain portions of the Festival due to weather conditions or other force majeure events. This will not result in a partial or full refund.
11. Vegetarian meals will be provided each day for the duration of the Festival. A schedule of the timings will be provided at the beginning of the Festival. Apart from this, no soft drinks, ice, or glasses would be provided by the Festival Organisers to facilitate consumption of liquor by the visitor. You are, however, welcome to bring your accessories and liquor for personal consumption, subject to maintaining a peaceful, comfortable and safe atmosphere at the Festival.
12. All persons arriving with a vehicle must park on site in the designated areas. Parking near or at the festival premises is at the risk of the vehicle owner.
