Rahul Jigyasu - Intuitive Rhythm Workshop & Performance Artist

Rahul (he/him) is a trained tabla player with a heart of a contemporary musician and soul rooted deep in ancient tradition. He recently spent one year in Indonesia discovering dying percussive instruments and the craft of making bamboo instruments.
He plays the Kendang, a 5 faced Indonesian drum, Gambang, a huge bamboo Xylophone, Pakhawaj and various other percussions.
Participants will engage in interactive rhythmic exercises that combine body percussion, sound painting, and Indian rhythmic syllables (bols). The workshop will also encourage exploration of natural materials, such as bamboo, stones, and leaves, to produce unique sounds and textures. The goal of this session is to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of rhythm as an intuitive and joyful experience. Through collaborative activities, participants will connect with the pulse of rhythm, both individually and as a group, while experimenting with improvisation and creative sound-making.
